The Sun Tavern’s very own Jake Rogers offered a live tutorial for Shoreditch Shaken’s ‘Bartender Takeover’ where he demonstrates The Sun Tavern’s signature serve ‘The Rose Hipster’. The Sun Tavern has table bookings available for groups on New Years Eve if you’d like a guaranteed space on one of the most hectic nights of the year!

Tickets cost £5 per person in advance, plus there will be a very limited number of tickets available on the door of the night. Tickets guarantee entry before 9PM but if you arrive after and we’re at full capacity you may have to queue for a while.

To book a table for you and your group, £5 per person must be paid in advance to confirm the booking. The latest time available to book a table for is 8PM. Failure to show confirmation of the booking means your ticket will still be valid for entry but your table may be given away.

The Sun Tavern hosts private bookings for small groups as well as private area hire for larger groups throughout the seasonal period.

So if you want an escape from the continuous Christmas songs and flashing reindeers we’ve got you covered.

That isn’t to say we don’t like the festive period, but we’d rather fill our East London home with body warming mixed drinks and seasonal ales instead of eccentric lights and tired out Christmas jingles.

There are lots of private hire options; you can book a table if you’re part of a small grouper, or alternatively the back of our East London home is very spacious and ideal for larger groups to take advantage of by booking a private area to enjoy one or more of our seasonal beverages.

Our local hero fine ales are sourced from nearby London breweries and will be a hand picked selection of our favourite craft beers seasonally available.

Our ‘Hot Punch’, includes our alcoholic ginger beer that is produced through ‘Umbrella Brewing’ as well as Bán Poitín and all the other necessities for a fine winter punch!

Hot Punch Recipe:

Umbrella Brewing Ginger Beer (5% abv), Sacred spiced Vermouth, Cinnamon, Lemon juice, honey water, Bán Poitín, drops Motzart chocolate bitters

Hot Punch is available from 4^th November and priced at £4 a cup.

In addition to the new drinks, The Sun Tavern now has to offer a new food menu. The Scotch Eggs, curtsey of Pig & Hay, come in a few varieties like Pork & Herb, Pork & Stilton or Vegetarian. The Sausage Rolls, also provided by Pig & Hay, come in a variety of Pork & Herb, Pork & Stilton and Steak & Ale. Both the Scotch Eggs and Sausage Rolls come with a spicy Tomato jam and a chunky Piccalilli.

The Sun Tavern’s weekly cheese board special is selected by and curtsey of Neal’s Yard Dairy.

To top it off if your just feeling a little snack to go with your drink, there are Nocellera Olives, Rosemary & Juniper Berry Pickled Onions, Mixed Nuts, Salted Pretzels, Wasabi Peas and Pickled Eggs.

Very recently The Sun Tavern decided to release the 2^nd Edition of their Menu. The new menu was inspired by the British summer, using British ingredients, Mezcal, Gin, Rum, Irish Whiskey and Poitín.

As The Sun Tavern has the UK’s largest selection of Irish Poitin, we have introduced a Parliament Whiskey and Poitin List. ‘Parliament’ was a term used back in Ireland for illicit spirits. The list showcases a map of Ireland, pin pointing the locations of all the Whiskey and Poitin Distillery’s.

London beer week always brings us joy amidst the harsh winter conditions and we recommend everyone keep the 16^th-22^nd February free in their diaries. The Sun Taverns 2015 celebrations saw Camden brewery host pints of their fine ale at £3, whilst we had our ‘Bán Poitín Boiler Maker’ on sale for £5 alongside our ‘local heroes’ drinks selection. All of our local hero ales are sourced from breweries in London and host the option to take away a 330ml serving away with you, whether it’s a pre-bottled brew or one of our ever-changing draught numbers.

We have lots planned to expand our fine ales and beers with ‘Umbrella brewing’, a new venture that has us counting down the days until London beer week 2016!
