Elements of Islay - Whiskey Wednesdays, September

September’s Whisky Wednesdays at The Sun Tavern will showcase whiskies by bottlers ‘Elements of Islay.’

Elements of Islay carefully select individual barrels from each of the distilleries on the famous scotch producing island to create their own batches of whisky for each distillery – whiskies from Islay are renowned for their peatiness, as Elements of Islay say themselves “The most important element of Islay is peat.”

Elements draw inspiration from traditional medical laboratory labels and packaging, with each batch proudly displaying its ‘Element’ symbol on the bottle. For example, Lg₇ is the seventh batch from the Lagavulin Distillery. Each batch is typically blended from between 5 and 20 casks from a single distillery. These casks will be from barrels from a variety of ages (hence the lack of an age on any of their bottles) as Elements believe that “stated ages and vintages are less important than creating a top quality malt that truly expresses the character of the distillery that made it.”
