INTERNATIONAL POITÍN DAY 23

INTERNATIONAL POITÍN DAY

Founded in 2015 at The Sun Tavern, 18th November is International Poitín Day, dedicated to celebrating the original Irish moonshine and the rebellious souls who kept it alive during its days of illegality.

Poitín, also spelled “poteen” or “potcheen”, is an unaged clear – distillate that skirted the law, becoming a culturally important spirit. Its roots can be traced possibly as far back as the 6th century, and is often considered the earliest forms of distilled alcohol in Ireland.

There will be a FREE Poitín tasting at The Umbrella Workshop at 1pm then back up  at The Sun Tavern, live music with George Hume & The Pity Party from 4pm, Umbrella Radio DJ’s from 9pm and an exclusive cocktail menu showcasing Poitín’s flexibility. Come one, come all!

18th November, 12pm – 2am. Free entry as per.
